In the figure below the overall percentage of Open Access publications is given. It rose to 70% in 2018, which is well above the average for Dutch universities. This rise is primarily due to so-called Green OA publications, which focus on repositories and platforms. In addition, the number of Gold and Hybrid OA publications increased, together forming 20% of all umc publications in 2018.

In the interactive chart below, it is possible to use the Gear icon to view the different forms of Open Access publication for the clusters in the different research fields. It is evident that Open Access publications appear primarily in medical fields that are more fundamental in nature (yellow), while the more clinical fields clearly publish less as Open Access (blue). Fundamental research is also published more often and faster in repositories and platforms.
