Scientific impact

The figure below represents the position of the seven Dutch umcs in the biomedical sciences field compared with the top 20 European universities that are active in that field. The position is determined on the basis of the number of publications (output) and impact (% publications appearing among the top 10% of most widely cited publications).

It is clearly evident that the impact of all our umcs is among the highest in Europe. In terms of output, the position of Amsterdam UMC stands out, since after the merger of the AMC and VUMC, Amsterdam UMC is now one of the largest biomedical institutes in Europe (based on the absolute number of scientific publications).
