Regional cooperation

The UMCs work together with a number of general hospitals and educational institutions in the region both for basic medical education as for most advanced medical specialist training programmes. This takes place in the context of Education and Training Regions.

There are various reasons for regional cooperative ventures. The cooperation between a UMC and general hospitals or other educational institutions provides a network of internships with a varied patient mix. This also promotes the relationship between basic education and advanced training, between advanced training programmes amongst one another and between education and science. Furthermore, the regional infrastructure and expertise offers possibilities for skill training in skills labs and simulation labs.

The aim of the regional cooperation is to:

  • Ensure efficiency and continuity;
  • Educate sufficient healthcare professionals;
  • Create a complete learning environment.
